Defender 90 TDCI Clutch Replacement and Comprehensive Service
At Bentley Auto Centre, we recently had the opportunity to perform a comprehensive clutch replacement on a Defender 90 TDCI. This service included the installation of a high-quality LOF clutch kit, known for its durability and performance enhancement in rugged vehicles. Our expert mechanics ensured that each component fitted perfectly, guaranteeing a seamless upgrade to the vehicle's transmission system.
In addition to the clutch kit installation, we also replaced the rear main oil seal, an essential component that helps prevent oil leaks around the engine. This replacement is crucial for maintaining the engine's efficiency and longevity, especially in vehicles like the Defender 90 TDCI that are often subject to harsh driving conditions.
Our service extended to the full overhaul of the transfer box with a complete seal kit. This overhaul is vital for the smooth operation and reliability of the four-wheel-drive system, ensuring that the Defender can continue to handle challenging terrains without compromise. The new clutch slave and master cylinders were also installed, providing the vehicle with enhanced responsiveness and control.

As the service on this charming Defender 90 continued, we received an exciting shipment from Luke at LFO Clutches—a brand renowned for its high-quality automotive parts. This box contained essential items for a thorough overhaul, including a new rear main oil seal and a complete clutch system, ensuring that every component would function seamlessly and enhance the vehicle's performance.
During the service, we also addressed the maintenance of the transfer box, entrusting it to Nova Hall for expert refurbishment. The output seals were meticulously replaced, safeguarding the mechanism against leaks and contamination. This step is crucial for maintaining the integrity and longevity of the four-wheel drive system, particularly in rugged off-road conditions.
Further inspection revealed an issue with the main shaft coupling of the transfer box, where excessive movement was detected. Such wear can lead to driveline inefficiencies and potential failures, compromising the vehicle's reliability. Promptly, we replaced the faulty coupling with a new, durable main shaft coupling, restoring firmness and precision to the connection between the transfer box and the gearbox.
The combination of a fresh oil filter, high-grade oil, and a new clutch system from LFO Clutches not only revitalized the Defender 90 but also prepared it for many more years of adventure and tough performance.
